Although Uzi is closely related to Hazy, she is her total opposite. She was not a trouble-free puppy who almost raised herself, receiving only minor hints from us. She was a real demon.
From the beginning, she was a challenge. She had huge problems with staying in the cage despite training and being well-behaved during our presence at home. Mattresses and trays exploded into tiny pieces. She could fold the cage from the inside and free herself from it. She pulled curtains a meter away from the cage into it. Left freely at home, she could open cupboards and completely destroy shoes. She took things off the desk, she could find objects that we would never think could interest her. Her greatest achievement was taking off the floor in the hallway. She needed 20 minutes of solitude. She needed some time to learn to stay without demolition in our absence.
As a puppy, she required a lot of work. She took quite a long time to learn cleanliness, she had a problem with retrieve because she is a very loot dog and did not want to share the toy. Possessing an object was very important to her.
When she turned 19 months old, she clearly matured and her emotions stabilized. She stopped causing problems when left alone at home, she started thinking more during training and copes well with overstimulation.
Despite the difficulties she caused at the beginning, she is an incredibly affectionate and loving dog. She loves to snuggle up to us with all her might, she is a terrible licker – she loves to give us kisses. She is very disciplined and knows very well when she has done something wrong and when someone is angry with her. She feels our negative emotions despite the effort we put into not showing it.
She has a wonderful will to please and a huge motivation to work. She loves training and gives everything to meet our expectations. She is very engaged in whatever is offered to her. Unfortunately, she tends to get very high emotions during work, so training with her should be well adapted to her level and skills. It has its advantages – you don’t have to overly encourage and motivate her, because she already has it all in herself. Definitely more often you have to use the brake than the gas.
Uzi has great sports conditions, although she developed physically and mentally for quite a long time. She is insanely fast, has a huge drive and is very agile. She has a naturally very nice jumping technique. She learns very quickly and despite irregular training, she can really surprise us positively. At the same time, she is an element that is hard to control. She is definitely a crazy dog. She tries to read our minds a bit, she runs a bit faster than she thinks, but everything indicates that as soon as the brain starts working with the legs – she will be outstanding!
Uzi showed interest in sheep during herding training, she offered outruns and flanked.
In relation to other dogs, she is brave, confident, assertive and friendly. She communicates very well, she is not pushy. In relation to strangers, she is naturally distrustful – she does not seek contact with them, she keeps her distance but also does not react with fear. After a moment of observation, she comes to greet, but she is not effusive. She is interested in contact with people she knows, she is cheerful, effusive, gives kisses and climbs on her knees towards them.
She does not react to sounds, but she reacted strongly to movement. From the very beginning, she reacted to runners, cyclists and rollerbladers. It took some work for her to start ignoring them. She could also run after game, fortunately, she responds very nicely to recall. The problem was quickly worked out and does not come back, currently Uzi shows zero interest in such objects.
She finds herself well in different situations. She calms down politely when we take her with us to the cafe, she finds herself in crowded places such as fairs or shopping malls. She uses urban infrastructure like escalators or revolving doors without any problem. She completely trusts us and will follow us everywhere.
At home, she never had a problem with calming down during our presence. She always fell asleep outside the cage. She is a dog who just sleeps at home. She may not have a longer training or even a longer walk, and yet she will not be pushy or destructive. At home, she goes into sleep mode on the couch.
Uzi in play, like in her whole short life, is very crazy – during tug of war play, she is closer to an Amstaff than a Border Collie. She gives 200% of herself, growling loudly and engaging a lot. She quickly hands the released toy to her hands to continue playing.
She is definitely a dog for an experienced owner.
